Wardrobe Wish List

Looking into my wardrobe this morning I found myself thinking what almost every girl thinks at some point  'I have nothing to wear.....' (This isn't totally true, my wardrobe is almost fit to burst, but I was totally uninspired.
So hear we go my new wish list, each piece can be teamed with another and it all makes scene in my head. So it's time to open up my purse and give the boring old bank a bit of a shock ha. (Ok more realistically this will be spreed over a few months).

Starting with the basics, as one should, this Zara camel cotton trench coat is oh so chic and really very reasonably priced. See I'm being sensible no?

And this  Zara black padded jacket will keep me nice and toasty over this winter months. (It's always good to be prepared.

I would add these Russell and Bromley over the knee boots called 50-50 along with some black jeans to complete my winter chic look.

For a great day to night look I would kill to wear the following, just switching up the shoes at the end of the day....

I think it's important for every girl to have a few cute dress options/playsuits. It's minimum effort throwing on a dress but maximum output. I like to go with a print or a bright colour or some form of embellishment, it's these extra detail that will make your outfit memorable. These three Topshop ones made a big impression on me, I even picked up the green on earlier.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Topshop organza insert calf skirt kind of 1950's with a futuristic sheer edge. I went mad for it when I saw it and quite a few other people seemed to have too. I've noticed it swinging around London on a few ladies. 

Either wear it with some pointy nude court shoes, or maybe these Kurt Geiger Isabella silver leather croc print sandles!!!!

This Zara white silk shirt with pockets, would look insane with these shoes and some jeans, dressed up casual. Perfect for lunch with a girlfriend. Every girl needs a great white shirt and silk one adds a luxury edge.  

Now these next pieces are a little miscellaneous, but I know I have plenty of stuff hidden away to wear them with.

Zara's orange mini skort are to die for and would totally brighten up any day.

And their shiny leather block heel ballerina pumps would add some glamour to a boring jeans and t-shirt outfit without being OTT and adding a little height, bonus points for me.

Actually they would look fab with this Asos swing dress with a high neck, the perfect lounging around the house, day time outfit, so casual and comfortable. 

And finally the LBD, Asos should be proud of this Lace Structured Dress, it has a Vivienne Westwood air and hugs the body in the right places and its on sale...I DIE, Rachel Zoe quote hee..

Butler and Wilson

Enroute back home from the V&A I found myself passing by one of my all time favorite stores, Butler and Wilson. Located on 189 Fulham Road this store needs no introduction, with a crown firmly placed on the roof and bright turquoise window borders, it is hard to miss.

Now I'm a bit of a magpie and Butler and Wilson is like costume jewellery mecca. Earrings, necklaces, bags, broaches, rings, bracelets, hairbands, iphone covers, they have it all. Nothing is drab or boring, everywhere you look there is an abundance of colour and variety of form. Very dramatic and totally what i'm into. 

I almost died when I saw this necklace, I can just envision how is would complete a jeans and simple cream silk top. Oh so chic.  

Not only do they have some of the best jewellery in London town, they also hold some of the most stunning vintage dresses around. I'm a sucker for vintage lace and I wish I could float around on hot summer days in some of their pieces, I just think its the height of elegant's/ a tiny bit bohemian depending on what you teamed the item with!!!

Needless to say I wanted to take the whole shop home with me, and have a wish list in my head a mile long. If your looking for a statement piece to stand the test of time come here, there is so much to choose from and no way you will leave empty handed.

Club to Catwalk 1980'S

A little while back the kind people at the V&A invited me to the preview of 'From Club to Catwalk, London Fashion in the 1980's'. No convincing was needed I was there and I took along Mr David Sassoon with me, (I interned for him while I was at Louis Mariette). However being a silly billy I forgot to document the occasion. So this Sunday with a free afternoon stretching out in front of me, I could think of no better time to revisit such a fantastic exhibition. 

When I think of the 1980's a few things automatically spring to mind. The Supermodels that dominated the fashion world, Wall Street and double breasted suits, Madonna and Micheal Jackson! So I was excited to learn in more depth the history of 1980's fashion.

Going through the entrance you are greeted with a pop of colour, movement and a blow up coat, oh so 80's. It sets the tone completely and you know you're in for a treat. 

John Galliano's final year collection from Central St Martin was inspired by the French revolution along with the club scene. He said 'The club scene fed me....Being with other creative people like Boy George was a critical experience for me.'  Dramatic and avant garde it's not hard to see why Galliano has become one of the most influential designers of our time.

I died for the evening wear, such clothing was shown at 'London Designer Collections and the Individual Clothes show' then the British fashion council was founded in 1983. Stephen Jones says he dew inspiration from the Blitz Club  for these head piece. Everyone from Lady Diana to Steve Stranger wore his pieces. I need, want, love these three dresses. They celebrate the female figure, hugging in the right places, along with being oh so sexy. Showing off a little skin but staying demure. Total perfection. 

By the stairs a projector showed a collection of catwalks. They are a world away from the runways we know today. Full of movement, colour, vitality and life. These models looked like they were having the time of their lives as they strutted their stuff and the designers fantastic collection down the catwalk.

It is almost like watching performance art rather than a runway. I think we should bring this back 100%.

I loved this Joseph Jumper, I makes me think of the Kenzo ones everyone is crazy for at the moment.  

When I saw this outfit I though of Pretty woman and Beverly hills. I have to watch that film now asap. Its a classic, Like Chanel it never goes out of style. 

Venturing upstairs I was welcomed by dramatic and theatrical collections. From heavily embellished Punk leather to Body conscientious, not quite the same as the body con we are used to hee, but obvi a heave influence on our collections today! As well as some fantastic Vivienne Westwood pieces. 

Last of all I popped into the 'Blitz' box (Blitz was the it magazine of the time). A mini cinematic experience, it really exhibited the relationship between London's vibrant and eclectic club scene and how it influenced a new generation of catwalk designers. Over all I was time very well spent I highly recommend going.
